We updated this client’s file system removing the growing paper piles off the desk tops. We added office supply organizing tools to reduce clutter on the desktops.  A paper management system organized the inboxes.  Lastly we sorted through the drawers and re-organized them with items the client needed to access regularly in their daily workflow.  When our work was done these desks were tidy more efficient workspaces.

This home office got cluttered with a paper management system that didn’t work.  A new system that’s easy to maintain helped this client to stay clutter free.

This executive needed a paper management system that was easy to maintain and  manage . The papers seemed to form piles on the desk.  We updated the file folders and organized the desk top.  We discussed paper work flow and came up with solutions that incorporated new systems which were practical and simple to maintain an orderly desk. Remind yourself daily: Set time aside at the end of each day to put everything away. This will give your day closure and enable you to return to a clean office in the morning with a clear mind.

Here is an example of clutter taking over a space.  This workspace cleaned up well once we got rid of the excess and found a home for the items that still had value to this person.  A transformation such as this one can can inspire a renewed sense of pride in one’s space.

These drawers were in a very accessible place in the kitchen and were being used for items the client used only on occasion.  We decided to use the drawers for extra pantry space instead.  We brought in the foods the client used most often.  We put them in tupperware containers to maintain the freshness of the foods and to maximize the storage potential of the drawers.

Bathroom cabinets are common targets for clutter.  We went through the items in this lower cabinet and kept only what the client needed.

This year NAPO-South Florida organized a community outreach project for JAFCO.  Members came out and donated their time.

The Daily Food Bank executive offices were a Community outreach project organized by NAPO-South Florida.

We transformed this desk space getting rid of the paper piles.

We organized their supply room getting rid of the items that were crowding their space.

A kitchen nook for taking phone calls and maintaining the family schedule had gotten cluttered and the client wanted a more presentable work space.  We came up with a paper management system that fit her work flow.  We sorted the papers she had into that system and got rid of items she no longer wanted.  When we were done my client felt better about the appearance of the space and confident on how to maintain it.

We re-organized the desk in this workspace to better suit the client’s work flow.  To reduce the clutter we brought in several paper management tools to organize and increase the storage potential of the desk top.  The result was a more efficient workspace with open desk tops for project work.

Garages are often the catch-all room for things we don’t know where to store.  This garage took several sessions to complete but when it was done it provided a great workspace, home gym and better access to cabinets.  The floor to ceiling cabinets made great storage for paper products, kitchen gadgets, crafting items, office supplies, tools and sporting goods.

A reception area cluttered with office supplies needed a storage system.  We put the items in supply cabinets creating easier access for all the employees.  At face value the space looked better but the receptionist was now free of the distractions from employees in need of office supplies which improved her work flow.

This office needed an archive for the overflow of files that were covering the floor and using valuable space.  Not only did the office look better but the archive made it easier to find the files the employee needed when he went looking for them.

Here are examples of closets that were transformed.  The client wanted a dedicated place for her crafting supplies and another for her children’s book collection.  The space was there but it wasn’t being used to its full potential.

This closet needed a better system for storing a wardrobe.  Shelving was added to create long and short hanging spaces.  This increased the storage potential and made clothes easier to find.

Here is a closet that got a complete makeover. We sorted the items. Removed the wire shelving system and replaced it with a floor to ceiling white melamine storage system which includes a combination of open and closed storage.  We added some organizing containers for small items.  Now the space is more functional and the office supplies are easier to locate.  The owner got some hanging space back too.

Closets & Storage Spaces

A pantry is a perfect example of a storage space that can be used very effectively with the right organizing tools.  Inside the tupperware to the right are snack items in their packaging but sorted with like items in an air tight environment where their freshness is maintained.  Look at the space gained and the neatness of the overall result.

In this closet we sorted the items and decided what to keep and what to throw.  Additional shelving and some plastic containers created a space for storing craft items.

We decided to use this closet for storing the books and clothes from the closet above.  We sorted and added shelving and found more than enough room with minimal renovation.

In the same closet we built dedicated shelving for a shoe collection.  It kept the floors free of clutter.  It was also easier for the client to see all of her shoes at once.  It protected the shoes from being stepped on and they were easier to access when she needed them.

We renewed the file system and created an archive for old files.

We made the computer cables presentable with a cable management system.

We re-organized the bookshelf and cleared the bulletin board.

The outcome of this project was a rewarding experience for all the organizers who donated their time and got involved.  This project is just one of the ways NAPO-South Florida contributes to the community.

For this project we sorted the items at the donation center and organized their inventory.
